Inspiration. That ever so elusive spark of creation from somewhere in the depths of ones id.

I write about it because I cannot find it today. It has fled from me on the wings of fatigue into the winds of atrophy caused by lack of use. And yet,I find it returning. Through my simple attempt to define and quantify my lack of inspiration I have inspired myself.

Is that a paradox?

If it is, it is a meaningless one. My inspiration jumped ship again.

Please comment, I would appreciate constructive critiscism. I'm not sure if this can qualify as satire. Feel free to inform me. As for inspiration? I'll try to find it again soon ;)

I hope you do find it again soon. This is a well-said, and very well understood and empathetic, piece. :)

Great job! More, please.

You have captured the essence of that elusive creature well. Only suggestion I might make is since the rest of your poem referred to fleeing, winds and wings, the last line might be more in the same theme if it had flown instead of jumped ship. Although, my metaphors mix frequently and if that is how you meant it, stick with it. I would really like to see more.

Thank you both for your comments. I actually thought of that ending after I wrote the piece, but I don't like to change things once I write them. But yes, your probably right Penfury.

The only opinion that truly counts is the author's. It is a very good poem as it stands.

Thank you. Is it a poem? Or prose? I honestly don't know. I'm still learning :)

I would call it an open poem simply because of the flow of the words. Or a prose poem. They are quite popular right now. We are all still learning. :) some of us have just been at it a longer while.
